Accelerate the development of a comprehensive national statistical system for traditional Chinese medicine.

Recently, Yu Yanhong, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the National Health Commission and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, together with Qin Huaijin, a member of the Administration’s Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director, conducted a research visit and symposium at the Monitoring and Statistics Center of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

 

After listening to the work report delivered by the center’s principal officials and to the views and suggestions put forward by representatives of the staff and workers, Yu Yanhong expressed full appreciation for the center’s achievements over the past five-plus months since its establishment. She emphasized that the center must thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on TCM work, particularly the spirit of his important instructions during his inspection tour in Nanyang, Henan Province, as well as the “Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Promoting the Inheritance, Innovation, and Development of TCM” and the guiding principles of the National TCM Conference. The center should adapt to the new situation, meet the new requirements, and shoulder the new mission; accelerate the establishment of a national comprehensive statistical system for TCM to provide robust support and guarantees for the development of the TCM sector; expedite the promotion and leadership of the construction of an information-based TCM system to empower TCM-related efforts in healthcare reform; speed up the development of a strong talent pool to enhance the center’s capacity to lead and drive development; and strengthen Party building and leadership team development, fostering unity and collaboration in pursuing practical results and jointly planning the center’s long-term development.

 

Qin Huaijin pointed out that the Party Leadership Group of the Administration has always attached great importance to the monitoring and statistical work on traditional Chinese medicine, and expressed the hope that the Center will seize opportunities, build on existing momentum, take the lead in establishing a national comprehensive statistical system for TCM, provide data support for the inheritance, innovation, and development of TCM, and make a positive contribution to the high-quality development of the TCM sector.
