He emphasized that TCM embodies the Chinese nation’s millennia-old health and wellness philosophies and practical experience, representing a great creation of the Chinese people and a treasured gem of ancient Chinese science. It is essential to uphold fundamental principles while fostering innovation, to effectively carry forward and develop TCM, to actively promote TCM research and innovation, to emphasize the use of modern science in elucidating the underlying principles of TCM, to integrate and mutually reinforce traditional TCM with modern science, and to encourage complementary and coordinated development between TCM and Western medicine, so as to provide higher-quality health services to the general public.
