Liaoning Provincial Governor Liu Ning Chairs Provincial Government Party Group Meeting and Executive Meeting: Usher in a New Era of High-Quality Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine

On April 19, Liu Ning, Deputy Secretary of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee, Governor, and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Provincial Government, presided over a meeting of the Party Leadership Group of the Provincial Government and an executive meeting, at which they thoroughly studied General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important remarks on studying the history of the Party and deliberated and arranged key tasks for the provincial government.
The meeting reviewed and approved the “Implementation Opinions on Vigorously Promoting the Inheritance, Innovation, and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Building a Province Strong in TCM.” The meeting emphasized the need to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on TCM work, uphold both upholding fundamental principles and promoting innovation, strengthen mentorship-based education, ensure that ancient knowledge is applied to contemporary practice, foster coordinated progress between TCM and Chinese medicinal materials as well as between public service and industry, and strive to open up a new chapter of high-quality TCM development in Liaoning Province. It is essential to give equal importance to TCM and Western medicine, enhance TCM’s capacity to deliver health services, innovate TCM talent-development models, reinforce education in medical ethics and professional conduct, improve pricing and basic medical-insurance policies, fully leverage TCM’s vital role in disease prevention and the control of infectious diseases, continuously meet the multi-level and diversified health needs of the people, and comprehensively advance the building of Liaoning into a province strong in TCM.
The meeting heard reports on the findings of the Second Central Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspection Team’s inspection of Liaoning Province, as well as a report on the 2020 provincial science and technology awards review process. The meeting also reviewed and deliberated on matters such as the strategic cooperation framework agreements between the Provincial Government and State Power Investment Corporation and between the Provincial Government and China Huaneng Group.
